Next to Howard, Jared Bush, who was one of the screenwriters of the first part, is responsible for the sequel. And he, as the author of the further adventures of the animal detectives – Judy Hopps the bunny and Nick Bajer the fox – deserves the greatest recognition. Including for the very beginning “Zootopia 2”which briefly reminds what happened in the 2016 film and, above all, what its ending was. This means that even those who have not seen the first part will not feel lost in the new plot.
The story presented on the screen is nothing more than a police buddy movie. It’s like “Lethal Weapon” or “Bad Boys”, but animated and for children.
However, the fact that the dynamics between the main characters is based on their opposites does not change. Hopps is an example of an always well-prepared student from the front bench, while Bajer is a typical laissez-fairealthough perhaps it should be said liser. She is very concerned about her job, while he cannot be distracted. The bunny is a stickler, the fox is a mess. They differ to such an extent that their superior sends them on police therapy for partnerswhich translates into a very funny sequence in the film.
The animal heroes will have the opportunity to prove their worth and suitability during the investigation related to the case that paralyzed Zootopia. It is related to events from the past, when, as a result of intrigue, reptiles were driven out of the metropolis where all the animals live. So when, after many years, a snake appears in the city and steals a valuable book, an alarm is raised and the local upper class, in the form of the Rysiowiecki family, demands consequences. It’s not hard to guess that Hopps and Bajer land in the middle of all this mess.
Watch the trailer for “Zootopia 2”.
Fast action, creativity, humor, values. All this can be found in “Zootopia 2”. While younger viewers are fascinated by the crime mystery, older viewers will find some surprising Easter eggs. The animal gray zone (another great sequence) may be associated with the planet where he held office. Jabba the Hutt in “Star Wars”and the prison scene brings to mind… “The Silence of the Lambs”. This is probably the last thing I would expect from a film for a young audience.
Although some will criticize the repetition of entertainment, it is the creators’ ingenuity “Zootopia 2” it reminded me why I like animation so much. What counts here is imaginationwhich can take us to a completely different and at the same time strangely familiar world. Because animals are governed by the same rules as humans.
A new Disney production in a light, entertaining form it smuggles a lot of truth about the reality that surrounds us. Importantly, it does so in a wise and responsible way. Separate applause goes to the creators of the Polish dubbing of the film, which further enhances the already high artistic value of the film. “Zootopia 2” is a must-have for a weekend family outing.
