Zofia Jastrzębska, Kate Winslet, Renate Reinsve: I always only look at her on the screen. Actresses who mesmerize with their roles

Justyna Miś: Kate Winslet is not only an actress who hypnotizes me every time on screen, but above all, my personal female authority. “Titanic”, “Without Love”, “The Road to Happiness”, “The Reader”, “Ammonite” – each of these films accompanied me at different stages of my life, and the heroines created by Winslet taught me different views on relationships. I appreciate Winslet for her versatile talent and courage. She is one of the few actresses in Hollywood who ages with dignity. Moreover, she has repeatedly demonstrated professionalism, for example towards journalists. One thing is certain – if I see that If Winslet’s name appears in the cast of a given film or series, I blindly include it.

Patrycja Otfinowska: : Zofia Jastrzębska made herself known to the public in “The Girl and the Cosmonaut” Netflix, but Karolina Borowska’s role in this series was not the first in her career. Born in 1998, Jastrzębska made her screen debut in 2019 in one of the episodes of “Zameldowany”. Later she performed, among others, In “For better and for worse.”

Another Netflix series brought her enormous popularity. IN “Infamii” she played the main character, Gita. The series won the hearts of viewers, not only in Poland, but also abroad. I was completely lost after this show. Jastrzębska’s portrayal in this series had me on the edge of my seat, I believed in this heroine and wanted her to do well – It’s been a long time since any production has aroused so many emotions in me.

The young actress was so authentic in this production that I began to look for her in subsequent productions – in 2024, I could feast my eyes on her performance as Monika Bogucka in Adrian Panek’s film “Colors of Evil: Red” and it was another satisfying performance. Thanks to Jastrzębska, neither I didn’t take the pattern off the screen for a moment and waited tensely for the solution to the puzzle.

And already in 2025, we will be able to see Zofia Jastrzębska in the continuation of the hit from years ago – in Juliusz Machulski’s crime comedy “Vinci 2”. And I will sit back in my chair, hoping that the actress will get plenty of screen time.

Joanna Krygier: It became a hit among the world’s audiences thanks to “The Worst Man in the World” by Joachim Trier, nominated for two Oscars. As a 30-year-old woman searching for meaning and trying to sort her life out, complicated and full of life’s, not always positive, energy, she was extremely convincing and moving. She became the face of a generation that – as in the most impressive scene in the film – would like to stop time to find out in a safe environment what life choice would be right and satisfying for them.

Since then, Renate Reinsve, who was awarded the Palme d’Or in Cannes for her outstanding role as Julie, has become an actress for me (and probably for many other cinema lovers), whose activities I follow closely. Especially since this year alone its portfolio has been enriched by four titles.

I’m looking forward to Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel’s “Armand” winning the Golden Camera and Piero Messina’s “Another End” nominated for the Golden Bear, which will soon be released in Polish cinemas. An intimate story about the Norwegian education system written for several actors or a science fiction story about the future in which bringing the dead back to life is possible – what more could you want?

By the way, Thea Hvistendahl’s dark “The Undead”, in which the 36-year-old played the role of a withdrawn mother unable to process grief, also dealt with a similar topic. Already after several international projects in Reinsve’s career, this is obvious she is not afraid of risky challenges (although he also participated in the recent streaming hit, the series “Presumed Innocent”).

One of them was the involvement in “A Different Man” by Aaron Schimberg. Although the title is primarily a showcase of Sebastian Stan’s acting, it is, among others, Reinsve’s character becomes the driving force behind his actions. Her Ingrid is sensual and hypnotizing, but above all, uncompromising. She has a certain coldness and distance that ultimately prevents the hero from getting close to her. And still, when he appears in the frame, you simply can’t look at anyone else.

Paulina Gandor: Choosing an actress who would hypnotize me, however, was not easy. I could think of many talented women with amazing performances, but often it only involved one or two films from their career. With Kajol Devgan (often simply called Kajol) it’s a bit different. It is worth noting that this one of the most famous and liked artists in all of India. She has won six Filmfare Awards for Best Actress in her career.

Most of the Bollywood productions (i.e. films made in Hindi) with her participation are among my favorites. “A Wife for the Brash”, “Something’s Happening”, “My Name is Khan” are just a few of the titles in which he manages to steal your heart with his sensitivity, range of emotions, refined choreographies and captivating humor. Even when he appears on the screen for just a few seconds, as in “The Doppelganger” or “If There Was No Tomorrow”, his presence brings a smile to your face.

Kajol appeared in as many as 12 productions with Shah Rukh Khan – the famous king of Bollywood. In many of these films, they created unforgettable love duets that delighted audiences around the world. It was their uniqueness in presenting feelings on screen that brought them to the heights of fame and contributed to the success of works with their participation. The already mentioned “A Wife for the Brash” (1995) turned out to be such a big hit that it was shown in Indian cinemas continuously for as many as… 27 years. This record was entered into the Guinness Book of Records.

There are a few actresses who catch my attention every time they appear on screen. The list includes, among others: Magdalena Popławska or Cate Blanchett. However, if I had to choose one that I would describe as “mesmerizing”, I would definitely choose Rosamund Pike. He continues to delight me in each subsequent production, in which he appears.

She gained recognition thanks to her appearances in the films “Death Come Tomorrow” (2002), “Pride and Prejudice” (2005) and “Once a Girl” (2009). My first production in which I met Pike was a recent Netflix production called “I’ll Take Care of Everything” from 2020. The British actress played the role of a legal guardian who unscrupulously bends the rules to get rich. She was awarded a Golden Globe for her performance.

Even though Rosamund has had many different engagements, this is it I love her most in the roles of unstable, cunning women. Worth recommending is the famous film “Gone Girl” from 2014, in which the heroine played by a 45-year-old disappears without a trace and frames her husband. There is something so appealing about this character that even the Academy itself decided to nominate Pike for an Oscar.

One of her recent projects is the controversial film “Saltburn”, in which she played the mother of one of the main characters. He also has a Polish accent. In 2019, the film “Skłodowska” debuted on screens, where Rosamund played the role of a famous physicist.

I love watching Rosamund Pike on screen. My attention is attracted not only by her acting, but also by her intriguing beauty. I can’t explain why I love her outfits so much every time. The British woman is simply stunning, that’s why as long as she takes on new roles, I will follow them with pleasure.
