“Wynonna Earp” is one of the most interesting TV series phenomena of recent years. The plot produced by SciFi Cannel was based on the adventures of the title character Wynonna – a descendant of the legendary Wyatt Earp, and the series was a combination of fantasy and western production. After several years of absence, the heroine returns to her hometown.
The series has a total of four seasons (the last one ended in 2021), and the final series was won by… the fans. Due to financial reasons, the fate of the production was hanging in the balance, however, thanks to the efforts of the viewers – a small but loyal and persistent group (as well as social media campaigns and billboard ads in Times Square), the SciFi station decided to produce the final installment.
In recent days, Vanity Fair announced that the beloved drama would be returning to screens. Tubi will produce a special 90-minute film titled “Wynonna Earp: Vengeance.” Emily Andras, the creator of the original, will be writing the script. The entire main cast will be returning: Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna), Tim Rozon (Doc Holliday), Dom Provost-Chalkley (Waverly Earp), Katherine Barrell (Nicole Haught). The film is set to begin filming in Calgary later this year and will be set after the events of the fourth season.
“Doc and Wynonna are having new adventures, and Waverly and Nicole are living a quiet life in Purgatory. It will be interesting to see what forces everyone to return home – maybe a challenge they’ve never faced before. Something really powerful (…) It’s a story about growing up, being who you are and taking responsibility for your choices,” Emily Andras told Variety earlier this year.
As Deadline reports, the description of Wynonna’s new adventure reads: “Wynonna Earp – fiery demon slayer, anti-heroine and great-great-granddaughter of the legendary Wyatt Earp – must return to her hometown of Purgatory to face the greatest enemy she will ever face. Her enemy is out for revenge against Wynonna and the people she loves.”
The film will hit the Tubi platform this fall. The official trailer has just hit the web.
