Will Justine Triet from “Anatomy of a Fall” direct the film adaptation of the famous novel?

Justine Triet is a 45-year-old French director, screenwriter and editor. Even though he has written esteemed titles such as “Age of Panic” or “Sybilla”, only the latest “Anatomy of a fall” became a breakthrough in her career and brought her international recognition.

The film was awarded the Palme d’Or at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. This awards season, she won 11 awards for “Anatomy,” including a Golden Globe for best screenplay, which she wrote with her husband, Arthur Harari. So far, the film has won as many as 33 awards.

The critically acclaimed courtroom drama will compete for an Oscar in five categories – including the most important one, best picture. The awards will be presented on March 10, 2024.

Justine Triet revealed in an interview with L’OBs magazine that she received an offer to direct an adaptation of the well-known graphic novel titled “Monica”. The comic by Daniel Clowes is nine stories of different genres, taking place in different timelines.

“Trenches, forgotten suburbs, hippie bars, artists and sectarians; madness, visions, voices from nothingness – Monica follows them, or maybe something tells her to follow, to turn at the crossroads this way and not another. Who is she looking for? Will she recognize herself in mirror? Where will he go when trying to understand his life? And can one life help understand an era?” – we read in the official description of the novel. “Monica” was published in Poland by the Kultura Gniewu publishing house.

Justine Triet has not yet accepted the proposal. Supposedly, she would star in the film adaptation Cate Blanchett.
