Seweryn Krajewski he has been permanently residing in Clifton, New Jersey, USA, with his partner for years Helena Giersz. The only contact with the current life of the 79-year-old musician is the official website Foundation Seweryn Krajewski. This is where you can see, among others: photos with a dog or with a guitar by the pool.
Former leader Red Guitars (he played in the band until 1997) has been avoiding conversations about his private life and future plans for a long time.
Now he has revealed the veil of secrecy in “Fakt”. Bogdan Olewicz80-year-old songwriter of numerous Polish hits and Krajewski’s friend. He was the one who wrote the words to the song for him “Big Love”as well as songs from the film “The Abduction of Agata” by Marek Piwowski.

“I found out that, in fact, he is probably happy. Somewhere there, on his beach, in the peaceful rhythm of life. Maybe that’s what he needed. We should remember that he created a huge number of songs. I also think that there comes a moment when talent ends not so much as the need to create,” says Bogdan Olewicz.
“Just as we forgive singers who no longer sing, we should also understand creators who no longer enjoy writing and no longer provide inspiration. Perhaps they create something else: for themselves, for a drawer. On the other hand, an artist usually wants to share his or her work with people and show the effects of his or her work,” emphasizes the author of lyrics for such stars as, among others, Perfect, Krystyna Prońko, Anna Jantar, Zdzisława Sośnicka, Krzysztof Krawczyk, Budka Suflera, Urszula and Lady Pank.
Back in 2025, Krajewski commented on his YouTube channel that he would present new songs there, not on the album. That’s when he published the piece “Just yesterday I had everything”.
Who is Seweryn Krajewski?
The creator has such hits as: “Don’t be cocky”, “Anna Maria”, “One day a year”, “Such pretty eyes”, “I tried so hard”, “Only 18”, “It’s still raining”, “We won’t rest”, “Run away my heart”, “Long live the ball”.
Most of them have a certain place among the greatest hits of Polish pop music, of which he was a co-creator from the mid-1960s, when, after a short episode in Red and Blackwas included in the squad Red Guitars.
There he met with Krzysztof Klenczonand the press began to compare their duo to the famous partnership John Lennon/Paul McCartneycalling the band “Polish The Beatles“.
“We were clearly inspired by the Beatles – we had a similar instrumental line-up, a similar stage image, and we decided, as the first in Poland, to base our band on our own repertoire from beginning to end,” said Seweryn Krajewski in 1991.
Krajewski also composed for other stars of the Polish scene: Maryla Rodowicz (“Remedium”, “Long live the ball”), Irena Jarocka (“Gondoliers from the Vistula”), Urszula Sipińska, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Grzegorz Turnau (“Letter to Eurydice Eating” to the text Jermie Przybora).
Even before he left Czerwone Gitary (1997), he wrote music for films (including “The Abduction of Agata”, “Oh, Karol”, “My Mother’s Lovers”, “Kogel-mogel”) and series (“John Heart”) and recorded solo albums.
At the end of the first decade of the 21st century Andrzej Piaseczny persuaded Seweryn Krajewski to return after a long break. In the beginning there was Piaseczny’s album “List of favorite things” from 2008, the compositions for which were written by Krajewski. The album turned out to be a commercial success (double platinum status, over 80,000 copies sold in total).
A concert album was a record of their joint tour “Despite the new times – live” (2009). For Krajewski, who has recently been avoiding publicity, it was a return to the stage after over 10 years.
“Andrzej entered my world quite deeply,” Krajewski admitted then.
The album was also a success “What’s it like?” (2011) with lyrics and guest appearance by Piaseczny and their next joint release “Winter Songs” (2012). Both albums reached the top of the sales charts, each of them went platinum.
