On November 3, he died at the age of 84 Jerzy Derfel – legendary pianist, composer and conductor, whose songs were performed by, among others, Alicja Majewska, Wojciech Młynarski Whether Ewa Bem. The artist composed music for the cult film “Bear”in which he played the role of a conductor. His death was announced on social media by, among others, actresses Joanna Trzepiecińska and Maja Komorowska.

Now Trzepiecińska has also shared with the audience the obituary of the famous composer, from which we learn about the details of the funeral. Derfl’s last farewell will take place November 7. The celebrations will start at 9:00 a.m. in the church of St. Karol Boromeusz at ul. Powązkowa in Warsaw.
After the mass, mourners will go in a procession to Warsaw’s Old Powązki Cemetery, where the artist will rest in the grave next to his wife, Jadwiga Swirtun-Derfel.
Jerzy Derfel is remembered by Poles as a composer and pianist who collaborated for many years with the legendary Polish lyricist Wojciech Młynarski. His songs (he had about 200 of them in total) were also performed by such stars as: Ewa Bem, Halina Kunicka, Magda Umer, Artur Barciś and mentioned Joanna Trzepiecińska (“Strawberries in Milanówek”).
In 1975 his composition “There are days like this” she brought to the words of Ireneusz Iredyński Alicja Majewska victory in the concert “Debuts” while Festival in Opole.
Jerzy Derfel also created music for films and series such as: “Bear” and “What will you do to me if you catch me?” Stanisław Bareja (in the first one he played the role of conductor), “Without anesthesia” by Andrzej Wajda and “The Road” by Sylwester Chęciński and a Television Theater show “Conversations while cutting down the forest” directed Stanisław Tym.
In 2004, he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
