New Prime Video is the work of Nicholas Stoller, a loud co -scientist “I’m on yes” with the participation of Jim Carrey or the recently gaining popularity of the series “Gęsia Skórka”. The plot focuses on two determined people who want to arrange an unforgettable wedding for their beloved people at all costs. As a result of a fairly unexpected situation, both events are planned for the same day. The unfortunate mistake forces Jim (Will Ferrell), Bride’s father, and Margot (Reese Witherspoon), whose sister is also to get married that day, to a fierce fight for this unforgettable event.
In addition to the stubbornness and willingness to provide the closest dream of dreams, the main characters share one more thing – a panic fear of loneliness.
Viewers will meet Jim as a caring, somewhat overzealous, lonely father who at all costs tries to make his beloved daughter, Jenni (Geraldine Viswanathan), nothing was missing. The man devoted many years to improving his skills to show the child as much feeling and comments as possible. He became a champion of hairdressing and a talented confectioner, he read a lot of guides for his parents and as soon as he reaches a quarrel between him and Jenni, he immediately tries to alleviate the situation. Although their relationship is extremely close, and for some even going beyond the boundaries of the norm, Jim is not able to get rid of the fears that after the wedding of his daughter he will be completely alone.
The hero of Willa Ferrella in the film “Welcome to the Welcome” does not differ much from the creations in which we saw him in recent years – he is a sensitive, open and somewhat distracted man who is ready to sacrifice everything for the family. His facial expressions, thoughtlessness in his eyes and disarming smile are a lot of positive production. During the screening, I had the irresistible impression that the actor repeats the role from the movie “Dad versus Dad” (2015), the continuation of 2017 or the production of “Eurovision Song Contest: History of the Fire Saga band” (2020). If you loved him for these performances – you will certainly do it now and now.
Margot played by Reese Witherspoon comes from a completely different world. She is a successful woman who conquers Los Angeles as a producer of entertainment programs. Unfortunately, there is also many doubts and sadness in her life. The situation is not facilitated by the lack of agreement with the family and a sense of undervaluation. The only real friend and support is the sister, Neve (Meredith Hagner), who is just planning to get married. Margot decides to plan an ideal wedding to give a show to his skills to loved ones and, above all, support the most important person on this special day.
It is not difficult to guess that the organization of two such great events at one time borders on a miracle. Despite this, after the initial settlement and mediation, Jim and Margot decide to cooperate and divide time, space or even … sunset. Despite the good intentions, such a plan has no right to go, which the heroes find out quite quickly.
Looking at the unfortunate way in which there was a mistake and reserving a place by both families, it was known that we were dealing with a comedy of absurdity, which we need to approach with a grain of salt. The feisture of the main characters was ill -considered and this is where their comedy resulted. The script also includes jokes that take up the topic of contemporary phenomena, thicket users or frenzy around increasingly strange entertainment programs.
The number of threads that the creator wanted to include in his history turned out to be a real chaos. A double wedding is also twice as many revelers (among which, by the way, there was even a not very nice crocodile). Many of them received “their moment”, starting topics that had no chance to sound completely and were presented only briefly. A significant part of them could simply not be and certainly would not hurt the story. However, the people who agreed to join the cast turned out to be a big surprise. I will leave information about who was among them for now. Some surprises are not worth spoiling.
“We cordially invite you” is a comedy of mistakes and absurdities, which eventually turned out to be a positive surprise for me. Many times I caught that the story really pulled me in and I was curious about the development of individual threads. However, I realize that this humor will not speak to everyone; The script included some dirty jokes or moments that cause embarrassment. However, I am convinced that if I got an invitation to a wedding with singing Willem Ferrell (and there were several such scenes!), I would take advantage of such an opportunity without hesitation. If you find a free moment, give this title a chance. Maybe, like me, you will find something for yourself in this somewhat stupid and detached story from reality. And even if not, I believe that you will be at this twisted double wedding just have fun.
