“Toy Story” is back! When will we see the sequel to Pixar’s cult film?

First part “Toy Story” was released in 1995. It was the first animation made entirely using 3D graphics. Its sequels were released in 1999, 2010 and 2019. All of them were artistic and box office successes. The third and fourth parts won the Oscar for best feature-length animation.

The series focused on a boy named Andy’s toys, which come to life when their owner is not looking. His favorite is a cowboy named Woody. Everything changes when Andy gets a new toy — space ranger Buzz Lightyear. In the first part, Woody and the plastic astronaut learn to accept each other. From the second part, they are best friends, who experience new adventures together, as well as face existential problems.

There have been rumors for months that a sequel to the cult classic could be in the works. Now, Disney and Pixar have officially unveiled the first footage! It happened during the D23 Expo on August 9th in Anaheim, California.

“Get ready for their next chapter. Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the whole gang will be back in Toy Story 5, coming to theaters in the summer of 2026!” – we read in a message on the Pixar studio’s Facebook profile.

The shared frame from the upcoming sequel shows the problem that toys will have to face this time – electronic devices that consume modern children’s time. The film’s director, Andrew Stanton, announced at D23 that a meeting of toys and technology will cause many comic situations.
