Towards Piaszno. A journey through peaceful Kashubia
I was going to Piaszno from the road itself turned out to be a pleasant part of this trip. For almost an hour I passed small Kashubian villages, fields of blooming rapeseed, lakes hidden between forests and rolling hills typical of . Cows and horses grazed in the meadows, and cranes stood lazily by the road. The further away from larger towns, the more I had the impression that I was entering a world that had retained its old rhythm of life.
Piaszno itself turned out to be a tiny, almost empty village surrounded by lakes and hills. From the center, near the Volunteer Fire Department station, there are signposts to After a while, a characteristic observation tower emerged between the hills, and opposite it, a small settlement of wooden huts.
It is at this moment that you can feel that time stops and there is only us in the world and the mysterious history hidden in this village. Here it meets the Kashubian landscape.

When I got there, there was no one there. Just . A huge dog, resembling a mix of a shepherd dog and a Caucasian, walked lazily from outside “Lemanówka” – a local restaurant and agritourism farm. Other tourists who have visited this place in recent years say that it is a regular visitor.
The dog accompanied us throughout the walk as if it were the guardian spirit of this place and, despite its size, was as gentle as a lamb, also towards my dog.
This is another advantage of this place – dogs are welcome, and admission to both the observation tower and the settlement itself is free. There are also no fees charged in the parking lot.
Settlements spread out all around. He dominates everything

The nai tower stands on a hill of approx. From the platform there is a panorama of Kashubian lakes, fields, forests and surrounding hills.
The view from the top perfectly shows what they really are – without big cities and crowds. From here you can see small lakes shining between the trees, green valleys and farms scattered on the hills.
Right next to the tower there is a large tree with wooden tables placed under it. A few steps away there is a shelter with a fireplace. It’s the perfect place for a quiet picnic after a walk. There is no commercial bustle or souvenir stalls here. Instead, it is something that is becoming increasingly rare. True peace.
Who were the Goths and why did they come to Kashubia?
The story of the Goths is one of the most fascinating stories of European antiquity. According to the chronicler, this people supposedly came from Scandinavia, probably from what is now southern Sweden. In the 1st century AD, they crossed the Baltic Sea and settled in Vistula Pomerania.
Archaeologists associate their presence with the Wielbark culture, traces of which were discovered, among others, in the areas of today’s Kashubia. This was what they were supposed to leave behind
There are reconstructions and fragments referring to this history, but the most important and best-studied archaeological sites are located in Węsiory and Odry.
Węsiory and Piaszno. Are these places related?
A few weeks before visiting, I visited the stone circles in Węsiory. A village as picturesque as Piaszno hides a place emanating magic and peace that is difficult to describe.

We can therefore say that they are an authentic historical testimony to the presence of the Goths, and Piaszno is a contemporary attempt to recreate the atmosphere and memory of the former inhabitants of these lands. That is why both places complement each other so well and it is worth visiting both Piaszno and Węsiory.
Mysterious circles and Kashubian silence
they have been evoking emotions for years. Some people see them exclusively, others attribute them to them. There are still stories in Kashubia about – who were supposed to stack huge boulders.
Walking around, it’s easy to understand where these stories come from. The silence, the hilly landscape, old trees and lonely stones really create the atmosphere of something very ancient and difficult to explain.
Maybe that’s why this place makes such a big impression, even though it is small and seemingly inconspicuous.
You don’t need great attractions to feel like you’re traveling through history. Sometimes all you need is a small village, a few wooden huts, a stone circle and a dog that calmly leads you through the world of the past
