The consequences have been talked about for years. Distraction, a busy hand and poorer driving quality pose a threat to us and other road users. It is not without reason that using a phone while driving can result in a fine and many penalty points. Although the regulation itself was introduced many years ago, it is still in force. We cannot only talk on the phone, but also use our device – for example, to reply to emails or text messages.
In the past, however, using a phone required taking it in your hand, because otherwise it was impossible to operate it. And how do the old regulations relate to the times when a touchscreen phone can be operated in a different way, and cars often have such an interface as well? , because you can get a ticket for that too.
it is part of its equipment – someone may say that using such an interface is nothing more than an element of vehicle operation and a ticket is not due. And such a person will be wrong, because a police officer, noticing that we are focusing our attention on the screen, can impose a ticket on us. What does it depend on?
There is quite a lot of room for interpretation here. It is not forbidden to use the screen, press a button or set some option. However, everything is on condition that it does not take us much time. It does not sound very precise, but it is in reality – it should be done quickly and efficiently, and our attention must be focused on the road. Otherwise, we can receive a ticket of several hundred zlotys.
The case of , because… it’s not so obvious. Sure, when we take it in our hand, even the mere fact of holding the device can result in a penalty imposed by the officer. However, there is a way to bypass these consequences.
It is enough that the phone is on the holder. Of course, we still cannot use it constantly, because we return to what happens with the built-in car screen – it distracts us and qualifies for a ticket.
However, if we want to answer a call, change a song or accept a navigation notification – a phone in hand equals a ticket, a phone on a holder will protect us from it. Remember, however, that the action must be performed efficiently and safely.
