The film presents the story of four pensioners. Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) diversify their free time by solving unexplained criminal riddles for entertainment. One real trouble begins when they have to meet the real matter. Domorian detectives will have their hands full.
A galaxy of stars will appear in the film directed by Chris Columbus. In addition to Mirren, Brosnan (for which this is another joint project), Kingsley and Imrie on the screen will appear, among others David Tennant and Daniel Mays.
So fans of Richard Osman’s novel have something to wait for. However, it will not be without controversy – as the writer pointed out in the podcast The Rest is entertainment, production will not be a faithful screening. Some things will be changed.

As Osman pointed out, he did not want to write a film script for nothing in the world. Although he was offered the possibility of full creative control over the project, he refused. Finally, the rights to adapt were purchased by Amblin Entertainment – a studio belonging to Steven Spielberg. The script was written by the director of “Thursday Crime Club”, Chris Columbus (“Kevin alone at home”, films about the adventures of Harry Potter) along with Katy Brand (“Good luck, Leo Grande”).
The “Thursday’s Crime Club” is to hit Netflix on August 28, 2025.
