This is the end. He withdraws from the elections for the mayor of Krakow

“After long considerations and consultations with my team, I have decided to resign from running for the position of mayor of Krakow in the upcoming elections,” he wrote in a statement sent to PAP. Marcin Bzyk-Bąk.

“I wish all candidates that the debate will be substantive and that the attitude will be respectful. May the best candidate win, always with the good of Krakow in mind,” the group leader emphasized. Wu-Hae.

The 47-year-old singer and a group of residents supporting him registered their committee with the National Electoral Commission under the name KWW Kraków Pany. However, it was not possible to complete the list of candidates for councilors – some people ultimately decided not to run, including: because of personal reasons.

The singer announced that he will run for the office of mayor in the next elections. He also expressed hope for the possibility of cooperation with the future mayor of Krakow in implementing his demands – including: for improving public transport, actions to improve air quality, building a cemetery for animals and a rehabilitation and treatment center for wild animals.

Earlier, in a conversation with Interia, Bzyk emphasized that he had no chance in the elections, but he wanted to start a discussion around some ideas.

Explaining his resignation from participating in the elections, Bzyk-Bąk also explained that he aimed to create a list of candidates “who would be new faces in urban politics, but above all, would have the competences necessary to represent the interests of all residents of Krakow.”

He added that he is enthusiastic about the positive aspects of the campaign so far. “We have attracted a group of people with great commitment, ready to devote their time and energy to improving the future of our city,” he wrote, noting that on this basis he wants to run for the office of mayor in the next elections and for strong representation on the Krakow City Council.

In office since 2002 Jacek Majchrowski he will not run for re-election.

The following MPs remain candidates in the fight for the position of mayor of the city: Konrad Berkowicz (Confederation), Łukasz Kmita (PiS), Rafał Komarewicz (Poland 2050-TD), Aleksander Miszalski (PO; common candidate Civic Coalition and the New Left).

A councilor declaring non-partisanship Łukasz Gibała supported by a party MP Together Daria Gosek-Popiołek. An independent candidate, the current vice-president of the city Andrzej Kulig supported PSL.

A conservative activist also announced his candidacy as a non-partisan candidate Adam Hareńczyk and political scientist, rector of the University of Economics Stanisław Mazur.

Marcin “Bzyk” Bąk is well known on the Krakow music scene. Since 1999, he has been a member of the Nowa Huta formation Wu-Hae with the second singer – Marcin Guzik.

After the album “Poeci wyklęci” (2013), the group fell apart. Four years later, Bzyk and his friends returned with a changed line-up once again. They appeared alongside the leaders Jacek Hiro (guitarist known from metal bands Skeptic, Virgin Snatch, Vader, Dies Irae, Decapitated, Corruption, Kat & Roman Kostrzewski), drummer Jacek Dębskibassist Paweł Kolasa and Marcin “DJ Przeplach” Przeplasko (turntables, sampler).

This line-up is responsible for recording the fifth album “Dziki kraj”, which was released in mid-September 2019.

– It couldn’t have happened better, but it wasn’t a coincidence either. The album is music journalism and directly refers to the situation of our political elites. It was bad, it’s even worse. Politicians’ statements and revealed behind-the-scenes situations from their private lives constantly disqualify another MP, senator, etc. Ordinary people are less and less interested in politics. Politicians have devalued themselves and lost all credibility, Bzyk told Interia on the occasion of the album’s premiere.

Apart from his parent band, the singer recorded with, among others, Jarosław Śmietana and Wojciech Karolakown projects Nohucki and Bzyk and Sztajemka. He also has an anti-smog song called “Let me breathe” by Zbigniew Wodecki.
