“There Was a Cat” and the Mroczek Brothers. Stars of “M jak miłość” in a New Role?

What would you do if you had 10 lives? The animation will be available in Polish cinemas from July 19. “There once was a cat” about a naughty furry creature who is forced to redefine his naughty attitude towards life.

Beckett is a spoiled and selfish cat who doesn’t appreciate the care his caretaker gives him. But when his next misdemeanor causes him to lose his last ninth life, the Creator decides to give him another chance. That’s when Beckett returns to earth as 10 different animals (he will be a dog, fish, parrot and even a cockroach) to learn a lesson in gratitude, friendship and love. All this so that he understands that he is not the center of the world and everyone deserves respect.

It won’t be without obstacles. In a whirlwind of surprising adventures, he will have to face a mad scientist who wants to destroy the natural harmony in nature and harm Rose with the help of some unruly twins (played by brothers Marcin and Rafał Mroczek).

Although “There Was a Cat” is a fairy tale for children, adults will also draw a moral from it. After all, it is a story about the need for change, and change is possible at any age. It is also a warning against judgment, as Marcin Mroczek rightly noted in his conversation with us.

“It’s important not to judge people by appearances, by their looks. These guys can be misjudged at first glance, but then it turns out they have big hearts,” says the actor.

Marcin and Rafał Mroczka are twins well known to Polish viewers. They have been playing in the popular TVP series for years “M like love”. They never tried their hand at dubbing though. Finally, the time came for that too.

In the animated film “A Cat’s Purpose” they play Kirk and Cameron, twin brotherswho work for a mad scientist who is faced by the titular cat (played by a brilliant Boris Szyc). They are the ones who will teach Beckett that it is not worth judging by appearances. Interestingly, not everyone will immediately recognize the voices of the Mroczka brothers, because for the needs of this dubbing they slightly changed their sound, which is surprising and perfectly fits the characters of Kirk and Cameron.

We talked about his impressions of working on the animation with Marcin Mroczek, the fairytale Kirk, during the ceremonial premiere of the animation, which took place in Warsaw. The actor told us what the dubbing process looked like and told us what he wants viewers to remember after watching it. He also asked about his role in the TVP series.

“For us it was great fun, although I won’t deny that it wasn’t easy. (…) We prepare for a film or TV series role at home, learning the script, and here we met these guys only in the studio. We saw that they had such a massive build, that they were well-built, so we had to modulate their voices,” says Marcin Mroczek.

The film “Once Upon a Cat” will be released in Polish cinemas on July 19. The distributor of the animation is Monolith Films.
