The scandal surrounding the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. “I won't do it even for a million dollars”

On April 21, the names of the artists who will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year were announced. These are: Mary J. Blige, Jimmy Buffett, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Alexis Korner, John Mayall, MC5, Ozzy Osbourne, Suzanne de Passe, Big Mama Thornton, A Tribe Called Quest, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield.

Ultimately, the following people will not be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year: Mariah Carey, Sinead O'Connor, Oasis and Lenny Kravitz, the omission of Carey and Kravitz in particular outraged fans. On the other hand, there have been renewed calls to change the name to Music Hall of Famewhich would better fit the profile of performers who are increasingly becoming involved in RRHOF.

Even before the nomination was announced, Cher commented quite eloquently on her potential inclusion in the Hall of Fame. The artist admitted that she did not intend to accept the award because she had been ignored by the organizers for many years.

“If they end up choosing me, I have no intention of going there – even if I got a million dollars for it. I am not joking. I will never change my mind” – said the singer w “The Kelly Clarkson Show”. However, they did not care much about the star's words, first placing her on the list of nominees, and then on the list of honorable mentions.

Shortly after the nomination was announced, he also spoke out Liam Gallagher. Asked about possible entry Oasis to the Hall of Fame, replied in his own style: “Fuck the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame”.

In a conversation with “The Sunday Times” he said: “As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: “do me a favor and f**k off”. It's like putting me in the rap hall of fame and I don't want to be a part of something that disturbs my mental peace” – he said, and called the organizers themselves morons, adding that he had more merit for rock than half of the committee members.
