“Salem’s Lot” is a new film adaptation of the cult book by Stephan King. It tells the story of writer Ben Mears, who returns to his hometown, the titular town, after 25 years. He intends to write a new novel about a house located there, considered to be cursed. On site, he learns that its new owner is a mysterious Austrian immigrant, whom no one has ever seen. Soon, vampires begin to run rampant in Salem.
The role of Mears was played by Lewis Pullman (“Top Gun: Maverick”), with Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbaek, Alfre Woodard and William Sadler in other roles. The film is directed by Gary Dauberman (“Annabelle Comes Home”).
For some time, it was not known what fate awaited the new “Salem’s Lot”. The studio refrained from announcing a premiere date. Concerns about this were expressed by Stephen King on the social networking site X.
“I’ve seen the new ‘Salem’s Lot’ and it’s quite good. It’s done in the good old horror style: it builds slowly and then explodes in a big way. I’m not sure why Warner Bros. is holding up the release. It’s not like it’s an embarrassing movie or anything,” King wrote indignantly.
Warner Bros. Discovery assured that the film will not be canceled and its premiere will take place on streaming. Finally, the premiere date has been revealed. “Salem’s Lot” will be released on October 3 on the streaming platform Max.
