“The Last of Us”: New details of the second season. There is good news and bad news

Screenwriter Craig Mazin and director Neil Druckmann are revealing more and more details about the continuation of the series. It has just been announced that the second season will have only 7 episodes, which is two less than the first one. However, the creators emphasize that one of them will be slightly longer than the others.

Artists' statements in a recent interview with Deadline may be optimistic.

The plot material of the second part of the game is much greater than the one who was in the first one. “Right from the beginning, we had to figure out how to tell this story over several seasons,” Mazin said.

This means that the creators they anticipate that the series will last at least three seasons, and perhaps even more. Much depends on how much viewership the second installment of the series will enjoy.

The action of the first season of the drama takes place 20 years after the destruction of civilization by an epidemic. We follow the fate of the battle-hardened Joel (Pedro Pascal) and the infection-resistant teenager Ellie (Bella Ramsey), who embark on an extremely difficult journey across the United States. To survive it, it is necessary to build mutual trust.

The first season of “The Last of Us” appeared on HBO Max last year and turned out to be one of the best productions on streaming. He was awarded as many as at this year's Emmy gala eight statuettes.

In the second season, the cast will include: Kaitlyn Dever (“Unbelievable”) and Jeffrey Wright (“Westworld”).
