The director of “Dune” believes that “the release date matters more than the quality”

Denis Villeneuvedirector “Dunes” he spoke in harsh words about television and its influence on contemporary cinema. His statement began by revealing a dream, specifically the idea of creating a film without dialogues.

Villeneuve’s strong words came right after he shared his thoughts about the films.

“Honestly, I hate dialogues. Dialogue is for theater and television. I don’t remember films because of the lines of dialogue, I remember films because of the strong image. I’m not interested in dialogue at all. Pure image and sound, this is the strength of cinema, although today “It’s not obvious. Television has ruined movies.”

He also added that in an ideal world, he would make a film without dialogue.

“In a perfect world, I would make a compelling film that doesn’t look experimental but doesn’t have a single word in it. People would leave the theater and say, ‘Wait, there was no dialogue?’ But they wouldn’t feel this lack,” commented the director.

For some time he planned to create a series based on Jo Nesbo’s novel, but eventually he came to the conclusion that this was not the right form of story for him. He wanted to create a great script, which he achieved, but unfortunately the vision was too far from his sensitivity.

The latest film directed by Denis Villeneuve is receiving really fantastic reviews. And it may be the most appreciated department in the director’s career. Will there be a third “Dune” based on the popularity of the previous two parts? The director claims that she would like to create such a film, but at the same time she does not want to rush it.

“We’d love to have a third one, no doubt, but I don’t want to rush it. The danger in Hollywood is that people get excited and only think about release dates, not quality.”

Villeneuve’s latest film, that is “Dune: Part Two”debuted in theaters on February 29.
