New information has emerged in the case Ryszard Rynkowski. An artist known for the hit “Let’s drink to mistakes” nearly two months ago, he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on June 14, 2025, when an accident occurred in Żmije. The musician was then heading to a birthday concert Jacek Cygan in Opole. Retrospective tests ordered by the prosecutor’s office showed that at the time of the incident Rynkowski actually had 1.84 per mille in his blood.

The proceedings are still ongoing, but thanks to the research it is now known at what stage the investigation is. Rafał Ruta from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Toruń confirmed the reports about the singer’s condition in an interview with Plejada. “The opinion ordered by the prosecutor has been obtained. A retrospective examination showed that at the time of the incident, the driver, Mr. Ryszard R., was under the influence of alcohol“- we learn from the portal.
The District Court in Brodnica, in turn, provided “Fakt” with information explaining what must happen for the case to move forward. The date of the hearing has still not been set, but the parties have already received a copy of the indictment and, what’s more, they have been asked to submit any requests for evidence.
“The parties were served with a copy of the act (…), obliging them to submit any requests for evidence. Further actions will be taken after the specified deadlines“- said the president of the court, Małgorzata Redmerska-Górna.
What threatens Ryszard Rynkowski? The artist pleads not guilty
The person concerned has not yet spoken publicly, but his lawyer has long assured that the musician does not admit to driving under the influence of alcohol. “Ryszard Rynkowski only admits to drinking alcohol before the breathalyzer test and the day before, but not to driving a car under the influence of alcohol,” the defense attorney said. There are speculations in the media that the singer is considering voluntary submission to punishment, but everything depends on the further course of the proceedings. Rynkowski faces punishment for his offenses up to three years deprivation of liberty. In addition, the court may even impose a driving ban up to 15 years and the obligation to pay a cash benefit to the Victims’ Assistance Fund in the amount of from PLN 5 to 60 thousand.
