The authorities of Castelnuovo Cilento in Campania have decided to grant honorary citizenship to the American pop star, Taylor SwiftIt was from this town that her great-grandfather came. Carmine Baldi. The decision was made after research on emigration revealed this surprising fact.

Taylor Swift’s Great-Grandfather’s Story

Carmine Baldi came to America as a teenager with only 14 cents in his pocket. However, fate favored him – thanks to successful investments, he founded the Baldi Bank in Philadelphia. He married an American, Louise Eurindine Sorbenheimer, with whom he had seven children. Their daughter Rosa Baldi married Archie Dean Swift, and one of their children is Scott Swift, father of Taylor.

Taylor Swift learned about her Italian heritage during a concert in Milan. The residents of Castelnuovo Cilento, a population of around 2,800, invited her to visit her ancestor’s hometown. Although the singer couldn’t accept the invitation due to her busy schedule, she expressed her appreciation for the initiative and her desire to see the place from which her great-grandfather emigrated.

Honorary citizenship and a street named after great-grandfather

Taylor Swift will receive honorary citizenship and a key to the town. Mayor Gianluca D’Aiuto also decided that one of the streets will be named after Charles Carmine Antonio Baldi, the full name and surname of the star’s great-grandfather. The citizenship and street naming ceremony is scheduled for 2025.

In Castelnuovo Cilento lives a distant relative of the Baldi family, Giuseppe Galzerano, who traced his family tree and discovered this unusual connection.
