The studio is working on a new version of the 2010 animated film, a musical version of the Brothers Grimm story about a princess with long, magical hair called Rapunzel. Michael Gracey, the director of “The King of Entertainment”, is currently in talks to take over the helm of the upcoming production.
The animation was very popular at the time of its premiere and generated a profit of USD 592 million, against a budget of USD 260 million.
This is not the first production that Disney is trying to bring back in a live-action version. So far, several films have been made based on beloved animations. “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, “Mulan”, “Dumbo” and “The Little Mermaid” enjoyed varying popularity, but the studio does not give up and has already announced further remakes, including: “Moana” z Dwayne Johnson in the role of the demigod Maui.
