It happened – Sony has announced a new PlayStation. The improved console from the current generation will allow you to play the same games as the base PS5, but in much better image quality and with greater efficiency. It introduces new technological solutions that are far superior to the original released in 2020.
Sony was very keen to get its console out in time for the holiday season, and that’s exactly what will happen. Pre-orders will start this month. You’ll be able to pre-order the new console starting on September 26. And when will the PS5 Pro be in stores and available?
The official premiere of the new console will take place on November 7, 2024.
The latest gaming machine from Sony is . Although it sounds high-flown, it really shouldn’t surprise anyone. After all, we’re talking about an improved, latest-generation device that, on top of that, has no competition. Microsoft decided not to announce an improved and more efficient Series X Pro model, so Sony holds the lead.
- Zen2 (3.9GHz)
- RDNA3 (33.5TFlops)
- 16GB GDDR6 (576GB/s)
- SSD 2TB
- Function – will allow you to play in 4K/120FPS
- better than that offered by AMD Radeon 7700XT GPU with RDNA4
The performance increase over the base model is significant. First, the Pro version has 28% faster memory and a GPU with 67% more computing units than the base model. Gamers can therefore count on better and faster rendering of games in real time at higher resolution and higher frame rates.
Getting native may not be possible in the latest titles, but upscaling will help in this case. The proprietary PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution tool, which is based on AI and machine learning, will help with this. This, similar to DLSS, will allow developers to achieve much greater efficiency on the new console. And the improved performance is also to apply to games already available on the market, as well as productions from the PS4 era. I’m talking about a function that will improve the performance of older productions – Red Dead Redemption 2 in 60 frames? That would be something.
Another key piece of information is the drive – or rather its lack thereof. , or at least in its default form. This means that after purchase we will not be able to put any of our games inside, because the device will only support digital products. It will be possible to attach a dedicated drive to it, but this will involve an additional purchase.
without built-in drive looks like this – depending on the market:
- $699.99
- 699.99 British pounds
- 799.99 euros
- 119,980 yen
The price for our market should be converted from euro – in this case, 799.99 euro is 3,424.02 zlotys. However, remember that you also have to add various taxes, including VAT. This means that it will be the most expensive console on the market, which will be very close to reasonably reasonable gaming PCs in terms of price. If we add the purchase of the drive to this, the price will be dangerously close to the limit of 4,000 zlotys.
– mainly because of the price. The equipment is very expensive and players not only in Poland but also in other European countries and the USA admit it. After all, we are talking about current generation equipment, which has been priced at at least $700. And we know perfectly well that the current iteration of consoles is not among the best, mainly due to the small number of unique exclusive titles.
While Sony was once known for having many “PlayStation Only” games, today the company has diverged greatly from its former self. Some even said why they were trying to sell us a new console if there weren’t even any games for it. Of course, these are exaggerated sarcasms, but not entirely untrue.
Judging by the sentiment and price, , similar to the Pro version of Sony’s fourth console. Ultimately, if we want to enter next-gen gaming, we have many other, cheaper ways. Even building a new PC doesn’t seem all that bad…
