“Salem’s Town” saved! It will debut on the streaming platform

Warner Bros. Corporation Discovery did not remain deaf to concerns Stephen King expressed by him on the social networking site X.

“I’ve already seen the new ‘Salem’s Salem’ and it’s quite good. It’s shot in the good old horror style: it unfolds slowly and then explodes on a large scale. I’m not sure why Warner Bros. is holding back the release. It’s not embarrassing after all.” a movie or anything,” wrote an outraged King.

Now about the quality of the new film adaptation “Salem Town” viewers will finally be able to see for themselves. Fans of King’s work had to wait a long time for the premiere of this film, the shooting of which was completed already in 2021.

Concerns about the fate of “Salem’s Town” were not unfounded. The company, headed by David Zaslav, became famous for its shocking decisions condemning films to oblivion. This was the case, among others, with the comic book “Batgirl”, on which $90 million was already spent, and later production was not completed. It was more profitable for the company to write it off from tax than any distribution. Recently, a similar fate befell the already completed film “Coyote vs. Acme”.

“Salem’s Town” tells the story of writer Ben Mears, who returns to his hometown of the title after 25 years. He intends to write a new novel about a house here that is considered cursed. Once there, he learns that its new owner is a mysterious Austrian immigrant whom no one has ever seen. Soon, vampires begin to rule Salem.

Mears was played by Lewis Pullman (“Top Gun: Maverick”), and the other roles were played by Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbaek, Alfre Woodard and William Sadler. The film is directed by Gary Dauberman (“Annabelle Comes Home”).

Warner Bros. Corporation Discovery announced that the production will debut in 2024 on the HBO Max streaming platform.
