The second part of “Rebel Moon” was supposed to explain some of the plot and repair the failing narrative, but instead we received a film that stretches the story more than necessary.
In the service “Rotten Tomatoes” we can find the opinion of critics and ordinary viewers about this production and it is not good. The first part received only 21% positive opinions from critics and 57% from the audience. But it turns out it could be worse.
“Rebel Moon – Part 2: Inflicting Wounds” received only 17% positive reviews from critics and 46% from audiences. These are very low results and there is unlikely to be a chance for a positive change. At the same time, this is the worst result in Zack Snyder's history – until recently, the worst film in his career was “Sucker Punch” from 2011.
“Including Oscar winners and nominees in your film does not make it prestigious,” we read in Deadline's review.
In turn, reviewers “ScreenRant” they complain about the emptiness of this production. In their opinion, it is nothing more than just a path to the next part, and the film itself does not constitute a meaningful whole.
It has been confirmed that director's cuts of both parts of “Rebel Moon” will be released in the summer of 2024, and Snyder revealed that more footage showing the full characters from the films will only be shown then. However, in such a situation, shouldn't these materials be included in the basic version?
