After the huge success of her 2023 debut “My 21st Century Blues” – an album that brought her six BRIT Awards – the loss of her personal notebooks was a huge blow to the singer. As she admitted, at that moment “there was no question of a second album in the near future.”
A surprising call from the police
During a conversation with presenter Will Manning on Capital FM, RAYE revealed that the police called her a few months after the theft. “It was a real emotional rollercoaster – said the artist. – But about two or three months ago they called and said: ‘We found your car.'”
“Not only did I get the car back, but not a single thing was missing. All my notebooks with lyrics were inside, intact,” the singer reported in an interview for EE Official. – “Everything ended well. Never lose hope.”
Back to work and a new era of RAYE
Thanks to the happy ending of the story, the artist was able to return to working on new material. Her second album, provisionally titled “Album 2”, is scheduled for release in 2026. The first teaser of the project is the song “Where Is My Husband!”, which RAYE premiered during a concert on the main stage of Glastonbury accompanied by a brass band.
The single was a commercial success, reaching number 3 on the Official UK Singles Chart and number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100. To celebrate the new phase of her career, the artist announced a concert tour called This Tour May Contain New Music, covering the UK, Europe and North America.
A special event will be six consecutive concerts at London’s O2 Arena – a place that can accommodate 20,000 spectators. “It’s a huge challenge – six nights in a row. My entire tour used to take so many days! Now I have to deliver the best show I can,” she said in an interview with Billboard UK during the Ivors Academy gala.
RAYE’s story is further proof that even the greatest adversities can lead to success. The artist, who recently had to come to terms with losing months of work, is now getting ready for one of the most prestigious concert tours in her career.
