The sixth season of “Cobra Kai” debuted a few days ago on Netflix. The finale was divided into three parts. The first one premiered on July 18, the next one will be released on November 28, and the final one in 2025.
In “Cobra Kai” we learn the further fate of the characters from the 1984 film “The Karate Kid.” The series is set more than 30 years after the historic 1984 karate tournament. Despite the passage of time, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) remain rivals.
The first two seasons of “Cobra Kai” were produced by YouTube. The rights to the sequel were acquired by Netflix, and it turned out to be a bull’s eye. The third season quickly became one of the platform’s biggest hits. To this day, the production is one of the biggest serial phenomena of recent years.
In the series “Cobra Kai” Ralph Macchio plays the main character of Daniel LaRusso. On the screen he is partnered with William Zabkawho portrays Johnny Lawrence. Both actors reprise their roles from “The Karate Kid” in the Netflix production.
The gentlemen told PEOPLE in their latest interview about preparing to appear in the sixth season of the streaming giant’s hit.
“To play in this series, you have to be athletic, which keeps us in shape,” Zabka says, adding: “Although there’s a thought, ‘I’m too old for this,’ it’s more like, ‘Hey, you’re never too old for anything,'” the 58-year-old actor confessed.
Macchio, 62, agreed with his co-star and added that basic martial arts techniques are great for his muscles, strength, concentration, balance and core.
“It’s funny, in the ’80s I thought, ‘Well, thank God I don’t have to do this anymore!’ I had no idea then. Now I think, ‘You know what? I’m proud of it, because despite my age, it’s doing well. It’s doing really well. And I’m proud of it,” he says.
