Rachel Weisz For years, he belongs to the group of the most valued actresses of their generation. She created many excellent creations, combining intelligence, emotional depth and unusual screen magnetism. She won many acting trophies, including an Oscar, the Baft Award and the Golden Globe, and she has excellent roles in extremely diverse productions – from independent and artistic cinema, such as “Faithful Gardener”, “Agora”, “Favorite”, “Lobster”, to great box office hits, such as “Mumia”, “There was a boy” or “Black widow”.
Among the few action films with her participation is a suspenseful spy thriller “Bourne Heritage”which today at 22:05 will show the television four. About why she decided to accept this role and what makes this part of the Bourne saga be unique, the actress told the film in an interview.
What did you like in this role? Did you enter the already established series and take it to a completely new level?
Rachel Weisz: – I play a completely new character in a series about bourna, just like Jeremy Renner. The fourth part introduces two completely new characters and I was very excited, because the film wrote and directed Tony Gilroy, “architect” and screenwriter of the first three parts. So I had the feeling that I was in the hands of the creator of this universe, who knows more about him than anyone else in the world. It was extremely exciting. And the very idea that this part reveals the backstage of events from the previous three films and we see who really draws the strings – we thought we know who proves everyone, and it turns out that not at all – he brings an exciting twist.
When Marta and Aaron finally meet, they both desperately need each other to survive. One cannot survive without the other. Can you tell about this situation and what results from it?
– I think this is the strength of this plot. My character and character of Jeremy Renner will meet thanks to work. We become close, although I don’t even know his name, and he doesn’t know mine. And yet for various complex reasons I cannot survive without him. He can’t survive without me. Literally – none of us can stay alive without a second. So we were connected by necessity and over time we become something like an unusual couple.
– We come from very different environments, different places. I think that if we met in a bar, we would probably not get along. However, fate threw us together into the vortex of events and we become very dependent on each other. We are starting to care for each other.
You took on a role that required a lot of strength and physical fitness. You probably had such demanding tasks for the first time? Was the fact that you played with such an athletic partner was helpful?
– Jeremy plays a character that must be extremely physically efficient. He has great strength and condition. I play a scientist who just has to run a lot, so I didn’t have to look as impressive and as agile. I just gave my best, but because in the films about Borea is very important realism, so I was just supposed to run as an ordinary girl would run (laughs).
And how was the famous scene on the motorcycle?
– It was simply terrifying. Of course, I trusted Jeremy, and he is a great driver, but we were keying between hundreds of vehicles on the streets of Manila, so it wasn’t a matter of trust in him, but also in all random drivers around us. And everything could really go wrong at any time. Fortunately, this did not happen, but it was really terrible.
Have you ever been going to go in the back of the motorcycle?
– No, actually not. I even thought to learn to run a motorcycle and recently tried to take a lesson … but it is quite difficult. Really difficult.
