Public Image Limited returns to Poland for four concerts. John Lydon: I saw no way forward
After the death of his wife Nora and his longtime friend and manager, John Rambo Stevens – both in 2023 – vocalist John Lydon he considered ending his concert career. However, the overwhelming reaction from fans, their love and support means that 2026 promises to be an important chapter in the history of the band.
A new live album, recorded during the 2025 tour, will be released in spring, and at the beginning of the year the band will enter the studio to record new material for the fall premiere.
“After losing Nora and Rambo, I didn’t see any way forward. But people showed me such an overwhelming amount of positive energy and love, they asked me to go on tour with PiL again. Since so many people were asking for it and since this band means so much to them, I couldn’t just sit on the couch and not tour – although of course that option was tempting,” emphasizes John Lydon.
After a period of activity in Sex PistolsJohn Lydon founded Public Image Ltd (PiL), pioneers of post-punk. Over the years, the band has undergone many line-up changes and developed a unique sound – combining rock, dance, folk, pop and dub. Lydon has led PiL since their debut album “First Issue” (1978) until “That What Is Not” (1992), followed by a 17-year hiatus.
In 2009, Lydon reactivated PiL, embarking on an extensive tour and releasing three critically acclaimed albums: “This is PiL” (2012), “What The World Needs Now…” (2015) i “End of World” (2023).
