“Polityka” passports 2025: Emi Buchwald, Kordian Kądziela and Eryk Kulm with nominations

On Tuesday, this year’s nominees for the “Polityka” Passports in the FILM category were announced. The names of the winners in all seven categories: film, book, stage, visual arts, classical music, popular music and digital culture will be announced on January 11, 2026, during the gala, which will be broadcast live on TVP2.

They have a chance to win an award in the FILM category: : Emi Buchwald – director of the film “There are no ghosts in the apartment on Dobra”, Kordian Kądziela – director of the film “LARP. Love, trolls and other quests” and actor Eric Kulm – the actor of the title role in the film “Chopin, Chopin!”.

“There are no ghosts in the apartment on Dobra” is a full-length debut Emi Buchwald. He won the title at the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, among others. The Golden Claw awarded for “courage in form and content”, the award for the best director and supporting actress (for Karolina Rzepa) and the Journalists’ Award.

The biggest success so far Kordian Kądziela is breaking popularity records series “1670”. Almost everyone was delighted with the story about the nobleman John Paul. “LARP. Love, trolls and other quests” is his full-length feature debut, which took part this year in the Main Competition of the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

For Eryk Kulm his breakthrough was the title role in a war drama “Filip” based on Tyrmand’s prose. The actor appeared again with Michał Kwieciński in the biggest blockbuster of recent years and one of the most expensive films in the history of Polish cinematography. “Chopin, Chopin!”.

Moreover, this year they were entered into the “Polityka” Passports in the FILM category: : Kasper Bajon (screenwriter, “Heweliusz”), Michał Dymek (cinematographer, “Girl with a Needle”), Matylda Gieżno (actress, “Światotoła”), Lena Góra (actress, “Przesmyk”), Natalia Koniarz (director, “Silver”), Iga Lis (director, “Bałtyk”), Marek Modzelewski (screenwriter, “In-Laws 3”), Jakub Rużyło (screenwriter, “1670”), Tomasz Schuchardt (actor, “Good House”), Justyna Wasilewska (actress, “Heweliusz”), Filip Zaręba (actor, “LARP. Love, trolls and other quests”).

“Polityka” passports are awarded to young creators who “contribute in a special and non-standard way to the promotion of Polish culture in the country and around the world.” The awards have been granted since 1993 to young creators for outstanding artistic achievements – currently in seven areas: film, literature, theater, visual arts, classical music, popular music, digital culture. The title of Culture Creator is also awarded.

Last year, Kamila Tarabura received the “Polityka” Passport Film categorydirector, among others movie “Necessary things” and the series “Absolute debutants” for “the mature use of understatements where emotions demand screaming. For the consistently presented and convincing image of the process of working through trauma and fascinating portraits of women in crisis.”
