The original series consisted of five films and was based on the book by Pierre Boulle. “Planet of the Apes” Franklin J. Schaffner it hit theaters in 1968. It was about three astronauts who land on an Earth-like planet inhabited by intelligent monkeys. People are treated like game here. One of the astronauts, Taylor (Charlton Heston), becomes friends with two monkey scientists, Zira and Cornelius. Thanks to them, he discovers the terrifying truth about the Planet of the Apes.
Encouraged by the film’s box office success, Fox demanded a sequel. “Beyond the Planet of the Apes” was published in 1970. The series has three sequels – “Escape from…”, “Conquest…” and “Battle for the Planet of the Apes”.
There were attempts to revive the series in 2001. Remake directed by director Tim Burton titled “Planet of the Apes”, however, met with a lukewarm reception. It was different with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” from 2011, directed by Rupert Wyatt. Its two sequels, “Evolution…” and “War…”realized Matt Reevescreator “Batman” With Robert Pattinson. All three films were very well received by critics and audiences.
All films are available as part of a subscription to the streaming service Disney+. They can also be rented on platforms Apple TV+ and Rakuten TV.
