“Pawn” (working title)a new SkyShowtime original series, will be the second part of the story at the center of which are anthropologist Anka Serafin (played by Maria Dębska) and journalist Sebastian Strzygoń (Maciej Musiał). This time the plot will take us to Upper Silesia.
The series will be based on the second part of the popular series of ethno-crime novels by Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński, published under the same title. Michał Gazda and Bartosz Blaschke will again be responsible for directing. The cinematographer will be Maciej Lisiecki, and the script will be written by Karolina Frankowska and Katarzyna Golenia. The producer of the series is Magdalena Szwedkowicz. MAG Entertainment is responsible for the productions.

“Śleboda”, the first SkyShowtime original series based on the novel by Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński, premiered at the end of 2024 and attracted almost half of the service’s subscribers in Poland, of which nearly 90 percent of them continued watching the series after watching the first episode. The series was nominated for the ORŁY 2025 Polish Film Awards in the best fiction film series category, as well as for the Polish Screenwriters Guild award for the best script for a fiction series.
Filming for the series “Pionek” will begin this year. More details about the project will be provided later.
“Pionek” will be the first Polish SkyShowtime original series with a sequel order. The series will join the growing offer of Polish productions alongside the latest series “Glina. Nowy Chapter”, which premiered this month. Later this year, on November 27, viewers will also see the first Polish SkyShowtime documentary series “Krychowiak: a step from the top”.
