Since the end of the 90s Paweł Deląg has been one of most popular actors in the country. He plays successfully on both the small and big screen. He recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of his stage career.. The actor made his debut as the robber Łamaga in the play “Painted on Glass” by Ernest Bryll, directed by Krystyna Janda on the stage of the Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw. In the same year, he also appeared in “Schindler’s List” by Steven Spielberg.
Paweł Deląg’s latest performances include: “Coffee with cardamom”which is a Polish-Ukrainian production about love, set in the Austrian Empire in the mid-19th century. The main character of the series is Anna (Olena Lavreniuk) – a beautiful girl who dreams of true and sincere love. A nobleman stands in her way – Adam Rodziński (Paweł Deląg). What did the actor tell us about this character?
The actor revealed that this the character was based on Aleksander FredroThe author of the novel ‘Melodia kaw w tonacji kardamon’, during a visit to Fredro’s house, heard the story of how Aleksander dazzled in Lviv salons and fell in love with a certain lady to whom he promised fidelity.
“Adam is a stable man, he is a politician, he has great respect among the Polish aristocracy and gentry, who wisely manages his property and applies for the so-called Serfdom Case, he is a former soldier. (…) He is a husband and a passionate man.”
The actor does not hide the fact that many of the elements that appeared in the production, were proposed by him. This includes the November Uprising threads, Adam’s involvement in political and serfdom matters, thanks to which this character gained more “depth”. Thanks to this, the series touches on more topics, it is not only about love.
On the set of “Coffee with Cardamom” Paweł Deląg he had a chance to meet his sister – Dorota Deląg. We last saw this duo together on screen about 20 years ago. The actor revealed that for the producers of the series, this choice was quite clear.
“When we were looking for an actress to play my sister Teresa in the series, I suggested several Polish actresses to the producer, but he said: ‘but you have a sister who’s an actress. Why shouldn’t she do a test? Invite her.’ I called Dorota, she wasn’t easy to convince, (…) but in the end we did some test shots together”.
Dorota Deląg was a perfect match for the production and did a great job in this role. And what about the actor’s sons? Paweł Deląg is reluctant to talk about his private life, but we know that he has two sons. – Paweł and Mikołaj, who were also involved in the filmalthough from a slightly different angle.
“Paweł is an assistant director and has worked on several productions. (…) He also worked with me – in the productions in which I was a director or producer, such as ‘Zrodzeni do szabli’, ‘Pani Basia’, he also helped me prepare for the stunt rehearsals of my latest project, which is titled ‘Renegaci’. In turn, Mikołaj worked on the set of the documentary ‘Wszystko być dobrze’. (…) Paweł is currently permanently associated with the film industry and I think that he will develop his skills and we will meet again on the setbecause we work well together.”
