“I was hoping to appear in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and perform for the fans, but this time the priority is my health. I have no problems with singing, but it’s the stress of everything else,” says Paul Rodgers.
Later in the post, the 75-year-old singer thanked for understanding and added that Simon Kirke would appear on stage with “amazing musicians” who would replace him. However, no names have been announced yet.
Paul Rodgers has been struggling with serious problems in recent years. He suffered numerous minor strokes, as well as two serious ones – in 2016 and 2019. He has also undergone endarterectomy, i.e. removal of atherosclerotic plaque.
Bad Company – British rock supergroup
The band Bad Company was formed in 1973 after the singer’s departure Paul Rodgers With free, and they completed the line-up Boz Burrell (former bassist King Crimson), Simon Kirke (former drummer Free) and Mick Ralphs (former guitarist Mott the Hoople).
The band quickly became one of the biggest stars of British rock in the 1970s. In the years 1974-1996 they released a total of 12 studio albums, four of which – “Bad Company” (1974), “Straight Shooter” (1975), “Run With the Pack” (1976) i “Desolation Angels” (1979) went at least platinum; In total, over 40 million copies were sold worldwide. Their biggest hits include: “Feel Like Makin’ Love”, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy”, “Can’t Get Enough” and “Bad Company”.
Until 1982, he was in charge of Bad Company’s business PeterGrantlegendary manager Led Zeppelin. After the release of the album “Rough Diamonds” (1982) the band broke up. After a few years, Ralphs and Kirke decided to return under this name, and a vocalist appeared at their side Brian Howebassist Steve Price and keyboard player Greg Dechert (ex-Uriah Heep). Subsequent albums were not as popular as the classic band’s recordings.
In 1994, he appeared as the next vocalist of Bad Company Robert Hart (ex-Distance). During this period, for health reasons, Mick Ralphs most often sat at concerts. After a few more years (in 1999), the classic line-up was reactivated for the purposes of a compilation and a North American tour, but it quickly turned out that it did not last long – Ralphs resigned and Boz Burrell left the band once again.
The band performed in various personnel configurations until 2019 (Ralphs last appeared on stage in 2016).
