According to a recording of the call published by “TMZ”, an emergency call was made by a person named Keely. The woman found it Sam Rivers in the bathroom, lying face down. The conversation was extremely tense, Keely reported that the musician did not respond to any attempt to establish contact. Shortly after paramedics arrived at the scene, he was pronounced dead.

Doctors’ warnings and suggestions that continued use of the drug could result in death made Rivers decide to undergo an organ transplant in 2017. Keely confirmed that the musician was still taking medications to support his liver.
