On November 4, Netflix added a brand new horror movie to its lineup! The continuation of the cult franchise shows how to face unclean forces and our deepest fears. The film by David Gordon Green, the creator of the new “Halloween” trilogy, refers directly to the original “The Exorcist” from 1973, combining classic horror with a new look at fear and the limits of human endurance.
The film hit theaters in October 2023. It grossed $137 million in ticket sales. Some viewers praise the atmosphere and the return to the roots of horror, others complain that the spirit of the original has disappeared.
“There are moments in this almost incoherent mess of a movie where fans may be convinced that its sole purpose is to try to make the original sequel, the legendary and terrible 1977 film ‘The Exorcist II,’ seem downright brilliant by comparison,” wrote Rolling Stone’s David Fear.
“A solid first half – focused on characters, with a strong build-up of horror and a successful portrayal of pure terror,” said Perri Nemiroff of Collider Video.
The film tells the story of Angela and her friend Katherine, who disappear in the forest and are found three days later. The girls don’t remember what happened to them, but their behavior begins to become more and more strange. Things take a turn for the worse – will the terrifying truth come to light?
The cast included, among others:
- Leslie Odomo Jr. as Victor Fielding
- Lidya Jewett as Angela Fielding,
- Olivia O’Neill as Katherine West,
- Jennifer Nettles as Miranda West,
- Noerbert Leo Butz as Tony West
- Raphael Sbardge as Pastor Don Revans,
