“Mastodon, Bloodywood, TODAY IS THE DAY and Kanonenfieber represent different continents, generations and aesthetics, but there is a place for all of them at MYSTIC FESTIVAL 2026, because it is a celebration of everything that is heavy,” we read in a post published on the profiles Mystic Festival on social media.
Next year’s event is planned for June 3-6, traditionally at the Gdańsk Shipyard. Currently, we already know the three headliners of the festival. They will be these Zakk Wylde with yours Black Label Society, Megadeth, who will say goodbye to Polish fans and the legend of the domestic scene – Behemoth.
In addition, a quite impressive list of artists who will visit Gdańsk at the beginning of June has already been confirmed: Anthrax, Forbidden, Overkill, Blood Incantation, the Gathering, Six Feet Under, Septicflesh, Master Boot Record, Embryonic Autopsy, Kublai Khan TX, Scour, Acid King, Winterfylleth, Down, Ice Nine Kills, Evergrey, Martyrdöd, Marduk, BØLZER, Static-X, Gaahls Wyrd, Corrosion of Conformity, Coroner, Decapitated, Frontside, Hostia, Benediction, Grave, Unleashed and Severe Torture.
Mastodon at Mystic Festival 2026!
Mastodon releasing their debut album in 2002 “Remission” They created quite a lot of buzz around them. Many critics appreciated the band for its very original sound. The second disc “Leviathan” he only strengthened his position on the stage. An album inspired by the novel “Moby-Dick” was a huge success and single “Blood and Thunder” Whether “Iron Tusk” to this day, they are still mentioned as one of the band’s best compositions. Warehouses “Revolver”, “Kerrang!” and “Terrorizer” named the release the best album of 2004, a “Metal Sucks” in 2009 and 2015 named “Leviathan” the best metal album of the 21st century.
Currently, the group has released 8 studio albums, including very well received ones “Crack the Skye” (2009), “The Hunter” (2011) or “Hushed and Grim” (2021). Fans greatly appreciated the dynamics of the team, whose composition remained unchanged for 24 years. However, in March 2025, the group delivered news that caused a huge stir. A long-time guitarist and vocalist Brent Hinds left Mastodon.
“Like in a marriage, sometimes people grow apart… it’s amazing that the four of us survived 25 years,” they explained. However, Hinds’ subsequent reactions made it clear that the mood in the team had been leaving much to be desired for a long time. On August 20, 2025, the metal scene plunged into mourning. Brent Hinds died following a motorcycle accident.
“We are devastated, shocked and still trying to come to terms with the loss of this creative force with which we shared so many triumphs, important moments and creating music that touched the hearts of many people,” the band said at the time.
The new guitarist of Mastodon is from Canada NickJohnston known, among others, from cooperation with bands such as Polyphia, Periphery, Intervals Whether ScaleThe Summit. The musician will perform in Gdańsk alongside Brann Dailor (drums, vocals), Bill Kelliher (guitar) i Troy Sanders (bass, vocals).
