One of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globes – Mark Wahlberg (“The Departed”, “Ted”, “Uncharted”, the “Transformers” series and many others) returns to cinemas in a film based on real events about the amazing friendship of a competitive athlete and the dog he adopted with the heart of a winner and courage worth a medal. Their unique relationship, crossing the jungle together and participating in extreme competitions, became an international sensation and was described in Mikael Lindnord’s best-selling book.
In the film inspired by the author’s experiences – apart from Wahlberg – also appeared: known from the hits “Shang-chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “Barbie” Simu Liu, Juliet Rylance (“Once Upon a Dog”), star of the “Fast and Furious” and “Game of Thrones” series Nathalie Emmanuel and a popular traveler and master of the art of survival Bear Grylls. Together, they will give a real spectacle of emotions, unforgettable adventures and impressions, showing that the most incredible scenarios are written by life itself, and friendship and faithfulness are able to overcome any obstacle.
The director of the movie is Simon Cellan Jones (“Boardwalk Empire”, “Jessica Jones”). “My Dog Artur” was based on a script Michael Brandt (“3:10 to Yuma”, “Wanted”).
Sports and adrenaline lover Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) faces the biggest challenge of his career so far. Together with a three-person team of trusted competitors, he enters the World Adventure Rally Championship in the Dominican Republic. Standing at the start of the extreme struggle, during which – over 10 days – on foot, by kayak and by bike, he will have to cover almost 700 kilometers, Light does not expect that his team will soon expand by an additional member. It will be a one-of-a-kind heroic dog – Artur. Connected by an inseparable bond, man and his faithful pet will challenge the jungle, waves, abysses and the limitations of their own bodies. What they will achieve together will write an incredible story that will move and delight the whole world.
