More problems in the long-awaited Marvel production. “Blade” again without a director

Demange took over as director after Bassam Tariq left “Blade.” He resigned from Marvel due to artistic differences in 2022.

In 2023, the studio was ready to start production. However, then the creators' plans were thwarted by strikes of scriptwriters and actors. Producer Kevin Feige also stated that he was not satisfied with the current story and ordered a new script to be written.

According to The Wrap, Demange parted ways with Marvel some time ago on good terms. The new version of the script is being prepared by Eric Pearson, who previously worked on “Black Widow” and “Thor: By Love and Thunder”.

“Blade” was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in the summer of 2019. The main role was cast Mahershala Ali, a two-time Oscar winner. The character made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the film “Eternals” from 2021 – in the post-credits scene we hear his voice. In previous adaptations, Blade was played by Wesley Snipes.

The film's premiere, which has been previously postponed many times, is now scheduled for November 2025. It is not known whether it will change due to the loss of the director. Ali is still set to play the title character. However, it is known that in the past he threatened to leave due to production problems and an unsatisfactory script.
