Matthew Sweet suffered a serious stroke. The family is asking fans for help

Matthew Sweet was admitted to Toronto Western Hospital on October 12, where he received immediate medical care. His condition was stabilized, but a few days later he was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Omaha, where he is undergoing intensive rehabilitation.

Artist manager Russell Carter described the situation as “a long and difficult road to recovery”noting that Sweet will need weeks of ongoing medical care followed by months of rehabilitation.

A stroke forced Sweet to cancel his entire tour, which included both solo and as well as concerts with the Hanson group.

The artist suffered a serious stroke. The family is asking fans for help

Matthew Sweet, like most professional musicians, bases his main source of income on concerts. Due to the need to stop performing, his financial situation suddenly became very difficult. To help cover mounting medical costs, the artist’s family and management team have launched a GoFundMe campaign. The fundraiser description emphasized that although Sweet received necessary medical treatment in Canada, the American artist does not have health insurance and treatment in Canada is not free.

The goal of the collection is to collect $250,000and already in the first days we managed to exceed it $115,000 thanks to the support of over 2,000 donors.
