Mastercard OFF Camera: Screening of the film “The Conductor” and meeting with Andrzej Seweryn

The seventh day of the festival is, of course, full of further talks as part of OFF NA MAKSA. Maks Behr's guest was Jakub Zając, the main actor in the production of “Horror Story” (directed by Adrian Apanel). This is not the only thriller film in this year's program – fans of horror stories will certainly be pleased! A real treat for the audience was a meeting with the actors of the intriguing “Mushrooms” (directed by Paweł Borowski): Paulina Walendziak and Jędrzej Bigosiński. The actor nominated for the Mastercard Rising Star award described the film as a unique story about the tragedy of misunderstanding, surprising and worth watching. Both films are taking part in the Polish Feature Film Competition, and interviews at the Film Town were not the only opportunity to meet their creators today – after the screenings at Kino pod Baranami, two unique Q&A sessions with the creators took place. Viewers could satisfy their curiosity immediately after watching the screening.

The audience gathered in the Film Town was also visited by Kamila Urzędowska, the actress who played the role of Jagna in the film “Chłopi” and the actress of the series “When do we get married?”, to which one of the Storytellers panels was devoted. She spoke passionately about her love for Krakow and… theatre: “Yes, it's true, my love for theater was born in Krakow. (…) I remember the rush of energy from the stage. I thought to myself: 'This is how theater has look'”.

It was these experiences that led the actress to the place where her artistic career, including film, began. When asked about her motivation for further development, her answer is very simple: “I feel like I just want to play, it's fun for me. And we enjoy watching people who really love what they do!”

Mastercard OFF CAMERA is not only about Polish films and Polish artists. Behind us are film screenings combined with a Q&A session: “Empty Nets” (dir. Behrooz Karamizade), “She Came at Night” (dir. Jan Vejnar, Tomáš Pavliček) and “Power Alley” (dir. Lillah Halla), which are fighting for Krakow Film Award Andrzej Wajda in the Main Competition “Making the Path”. All this in the unique spaces of the Academy of Fine Arts, where discussions about independent cinema gain a completely new dimension.

During the festival, we remember everyone – the Biały Królik ceramics studio took care of the youngest viewers of the Mastercard OFF CAMERA Festival. As part of unique workshops, children made unique mugs and bowls from clay, which will be a beautiful souvenir of the festival. A day full of excitement also for the participants of the PRO INDUSTRY series, who today completed a three-day challenge of intensive development in the film industry. In the spaces of Stradom House by Autograph Collection, lively discussions took place, great ideas were polished and extremely valuable contacts were established. The future of Polish independent cinema is in great hands!

In the evening, cinema fans gathered once again in three open-air cinemas – in the Cinema at Galeria Krakowska, in the Cinema at Plac Szczepański and in the Cinema in the Botanical Garden. At the Mastercard OFF CAMERA Festival you can enjoy both cinematic experiences and beautiful weather. But… interviews, workshops and films are of course not everything! A great ending to the festival day was the party at the Poczta Główna Meeting Club: “House Music and Night x Mastercard OFF CAMERA”. Conversations about films took place to the energetic accompaniment of house sounds, which made many people dance.
