Mastercard Off Camera 2025 festival It starts on April 25 and will last until May 4. On May 3, on Saturday, at the Teatr im. Juliusz Słowacki in Krakow will be a closing gala, during which we will meet the winners in all competitions.
In the Polish feature films competition, Mastercard Off Camera is presented what is the most interesting, the most original and universal in native cinematography of the last year. In each edition of the largest independent cinema festival in this part of Europe, ten stories are fighting for the main prize of PLN 100,000. It will be awarded by an international jury.
Maja Pankiewicz She appeared in the main role in the film “There will be no other end” directed by Monika Majorek. After the death of Father Ola (played by Pankiewicz), the oldest of his siblings, returns to his family home, where he discovers that a lot has changed – the mother has a new partner, the house is to be sold, and relations with loved ones are tense. To reconcile with the past, Ola with his siblings – Pipk (Sebastian Dela) and Ajka (Klementyna Karnkowska) – plays old photos and looks at old family video cassettes. Joint memories help them work out mourning and try to rebuild ties.
On the other hand Michał Sikorski He played in “Life for beginners”. He takes on him into the character of Czarek. He discovers the secret of the main heroine, Moni (Magdalena Maścianica), who is … a vampire. Soon, it turns out that the second vampire also works in the center where the girl works – a Mirek (Bartłomiej Kotschedoff) – struggling with the suffering of Mirek. He puts a dramatic ultimatum: either she will kill him or he will attack the residents.
Maja Pankiewicz and Michał Sikorski are nominated for the “Best Actress” and “Best Actor” awards. In the program “Halo here polsat” They invited viewers to the picnic to Krakow.
“Meetings with viewers in Krakow – on organized Q&A, but also simply on the street – it is amazing that people meet in cafes, you can talk to them, exchange experiences” – said Michał Sikorski. “The city lives a festival” – added Maja Pankiewicz, emphasizing the unique atmosphere of the event.
The actress also shared her reflection on the emotional reception of the film “There will be no other end” in which she plays the main role.
“The reactions after our film are beautiful. People are very moved, they share their stories, it is very grabbing the heart. They come to us and say that it is a bit about them, or that they had similar experiences, or that they thank you that such a film was made. These are very nice comments” – said Pankiewicz.
The festival program included over 200 films, many of which have not had premieres yet and can be seen only during this event. This is a unique opportunity for cinema lovers to learn new voices and fresh look in Polish and world cinematography.
