Maciej Zakoscielny in a new edition. He got a role in an Italian movie

After a few years of break from big screen roles, Maciej Zazdrowieny surprises his fans again. The actor, known primarily for romantic comedies such as “Only Love Me” or “Letters to M. 2”, this time will appear in the Italian production “Let’s take a break”. This is a film directed by Christian Marazziti, which tells the story of three couples who decide to temporarily break up in order to regain balance and freshness in their relationship.

Zaścielny plays one of the main characters, and his character undergoes a significant transformation, both internal and external. At the beginning of the story he is 40 years old, and as the story progresses he ages two decades. This required the actor to completely change his image, including shaving his head.

Viewers have become accustomed to the image of Maciej Zaświaty as a film lover – handsome, always impeccably groomed and with a characteristic look. This time, however, the actor decided to completely break with this image. In the “Good morning TVN” program, he showed photos from the set, showing him in a completely new version.

His character in Marazziti’s film is bald and more mature, which is a big contrast to Zakoscielny’s previous roles.. As he admitted, this acting challenge was extremely interesting for him because it required not only work on his appearance, but also on the way he moved and spoke.

The Italian project came to Zaścielny in an unexpected way. The actor admitted that he didn’t even have to take part in the casting. As he revealed in the breakfast program, his employment was decided by the agent who sent his demo to the Italian team.

“While on the beach with my children, I found out that I had to record myself. I refused because I was on vacation. After two days, the agent called and said that I didn’t have to do it anymore – they had chosen me. He played them my demo and that was enough,” said Zazdrowieński.

This shows that his experience and recognition go beyond Polish cinema. The actor himself admitted that the offer from Italy was a surprise to him, but also a great honor.

The new role required not only a visual metamorphosis, but also a linguistic one. The actor had to master the Italian script, which turned out to be quite a challenge. As he mentioned, his character is a Pole who has been living in Italy for 20 years, so he didn’t have to speak perfectly.

“Fabio Volo, with whom I play the most, said he really liked my Italian. I learned with my coach Kasia Hoffmann, who even advised me to say some sentences with a Polish accent – it was more natural for the characters.” – he said in “Good Morning TVN”.

Zaścielny admitted that at the beginning, learning the language seemed easy because he learned entire sentences by heart. However, when it came to learning the grammar rules, it became much more difficult. Despite this, the actor approached the task with full commitment.

Although the actor has appeared less often in films in recent years, he has not disappeared from the media. In the fall of 2024, we could watch him in “Dancing with the Stars”, where he showed a different, more private side. Now, however, he returns in a role that may open the door to his international career.

The film “Let’s Take a Break” is scheduled to hit Italian cinemas on February 14, 2026. This is a symbolic date because the story about relationships, breaks and emotions fits perfectly into the atmosphere of Valentine’s Day. For Zaścielny, this may be a new chapter in his professional life – more mature, with the courage to take risks and exceed the boundaries of the image he has built over the years.
