All records Lunatic Soul create an artistic concept about a journey through life and death, which Mariusz Duda – also known as the group’s vocalist and bassist Riverside – called “The Circle of Life and Death”. The series tells the story of a character who dies, goes to the afterlife, and then is reborn and comes back to life. The story was divided into eight albums. Its chronology is not consistent with the order of content of the released albums.
“My first double album in my career. It is a very long album, suitable for many evenings, a ‘slow burn’, to be discovered calmly and without haste. I wholeheartedly thank everyone who helped me create it and everyone who wanted to listen to this album on their favorite medium,” wrote Mariusz Duda on social media.
Lunatic Soul and the new album “The World Under Unsun”
The material was recorded, mixed and mastered by Magda and Robert Srzednicki In Serakos Studio in Warsaw. The double album with a total of 14 songs lasts almost 90 minutes.
“‘Unsun’ is the sun during a total eclipse. The sun hanging over a world where nothing is going right – a world that symbolizes the mind of the main character. ‘The World Under Unsun’ is a story about a man trying to break free from toxic relationships and repetitive patterns. It is the story of someone who decides to change his life, constantly struggling with habits, guilt and all kinds of addictions to the ‘here and now’. It is a story about internal conflict – something we all experience, facing morally difficult decisions,” we read.
Traditionally, on Lunatic Soul albums, Mariusz Duda is responsible for almost the entire project, from the composition and lyrics to almost all the instruments. He performed as a guest on drums Wawrzyniec Dramowicz (Indukti, UnSun)which has accompanied Duda since his 2008 debut Lunatic Soul.
In this project, Mariusz Duda draws inspiration from the work of artists such as Dead Can Dance, Peter Gabriel (especially the album “Passion”), Mike Oldfield, Clannad, Hedningarna and Depeche Mode. The musician emphasizes that for him Lunatic Soul is not a “side project. “Musically and conceptually, it is an equally important musical world – if not more important. Here I can literally do anything,” he says.
Let us add that on November 6, a series of promotional meetings with Mariusz Duda will begin at the Gocław Cultural Terminal in Warsaw, during which the musician will not only talk about the latest album and the project itself, but also answer questions and give acoustic concerts. There will also be an opportunity to collect autographs and take a souvenir photo.
Subsequent meetings will be held in Wrocław (Wrocławski Klub Formaty, November 14), Bielsko-Biała (MDK, November 18), Katowice (Kinoteatr Rialto, November 19), Kraków (Academy of Music, November 20), Olsztyn (Trolleybus Depot, November 28) and Węgorzewo (Węgorzewskie Centrum Kultury, November 29).
