59-year-old Salma Hayek is one of the most famous actresses in the world. We have seen the Mexican-American star in cult productions, including: “From Dusk Till Dawn” (1996), “Frida” (2002), “Desperado” (1995) or more commercial shows such as “Magic Mike: The Last Dance” (2023), “Bodyguard and the Pro’s Wife” (2021) and “Big Kids” (2010). Over the years, she successfully built her career – she exuded charisma, delighted with her talent and tempted with her appearance. Creators from all over the world wanted to work with her and men dreamed of dating her.
In 2006, Salma Hayek’s heart skipped a beat when she met a man named François-Henri Pinault at a party at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice. The French businessman is the president of the luxury brand conglomerate Kering, which includes, among others, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen. A feeling quickly developed between them, which resulted in a daughter, Valentina Paloma, born in 2007.
The lovers got married in 2009 on Valentine’s Day in Paris, although the road to the wedding was long and winding. Salma openly admitted that she did not want to get married because she was terrified that the feelings between her and her beloved would change. “I was terrified of marriage, I had a real phobia about it,” she admitted.
For this reason, she rejected the engagement three times! Finally, her family decided they had to take action. They organized the ceremony without the star’s knowledge and dragged her to the altar!
“I didn’t even know that I would get married that day. They just dragged me to the court. My parents, my brother, they were all mad at me. (…() I was nervous. If it weren’t for them, I certainly wouldn’t have done it,” she said in one of the interviews, and then added: “I felt relieved because, contrary to what I thought, everything was as usual. After the wedding, we went straight to the party.”
The wedding with a wealthy businessman attracted the attention of the media and the public. The actress was accused of agreeing to marry a Frenchman because of his wealth. Salma strongly denied the rumors. It is true that the spouses never signed a prenup, but they built their separate estates. The 59-year-old also openly admitted that having such funds often attracted the wrong people.
“For me, the exciting thing about having so much money was that I didn’t have to think about money. But then I found out that people only wanted to talk to me about money. Strangers come to me who are not even my friends, but they think we should be friends because they are rich too,” she revealed.
The 59-year-old does not want to be financially dependent on anyone, not even her husband. A year ago, she decided to start several new financial projects, and for a long time, in addition to acting, she has also been involved in film production. “I’m under pressure to earn a certain amount of money and I like it. And now I’ve decided I want more,” she said last year.
