Krzysztof Zalewski speaks honestly about his mother’s death and his relationship with his father. “I wanted to be alone with her”

Krzysztof Zalewski was invited to Eska ROCK, where Marcin Meller, as part of his program “Mellina”, he interviewed him. The artist told about the most difficult moments he had experienced. It was all related to the death of his mother.

“The moment when I found out about my mother’s illness was one of the hardest in my life. That image still remains in my memory,” says the soloist.

Krzysztof Zalewski’s mother was battling a serious illness, which the singer learned about at the age of 13. In this difficult situation, an additional challenge was the lack of contact with his father, Stanisław Brejdygant. It is worth mentioning that for most of his life Zalewski had no idea about the existence of his brother from another marriage of Brejdygant. The men met only when they were already adults.

Zalewski on his mother’s death: “I wanted to be alone with her”

The singer began seeing his father when his mother’s illness progressed and fears arose that she would not be able to be saved.

“I knew who my father was. (…) There was a big chance that I would become an orphan, so my stepfamily, my mother’s friends decided to find him, bring him in, and then my father came for the first time, (…) started appearing sporadically” — Zalewski recalled.

He reports that his mother spent the last years of her life on a special bed in Zalewski’s house.

“Since my mother spent the last two years in this hospital bed in the middle of the apartment, I lay down next to her and turned on the Doors,” he says in an interview.

After she left, Krzysztof wanted to spend some time with her in silence, without the presence of other people. He recalls that commemorating her was beautiful.

“Everyone showed up there and performed all these Catholic ceremonies and it was really so beautiful because they were very close to me, but when all this happened, I wanted to be alone with her” – he confesses.

What happened next? The singer got a chance to get to know his father. He was finally able to spend more time with him.

“When my mother died, we started going on holidays together, traveling the world, and that’s when I met him,” he concluded.
