Krystyna Jandawho has been running the Teatr Polonia and Och-Teatr stages in Warsaw for years, recently gave an interview in which she revealed who will take over the reins in these institutions after her departure.
“I am thinking about the future of our theaters and foundations. Yesterday we signed papers at a notary taking into account my absence. I expanded the foundation’s council and the composition of the control commission. According to my will, my daughter is to replace me as the president of the foundation and head of theaters when I leave. It’s decided. (…) She agreed,” admits the actress in an interview with Tomasz Plata from the monthly “Teatr”.
Janda says her daughter, an actress Maria Sewerynhas always been associated with the foundation, she acts and directs a lot here.
“She went through all the stages and even sat at the cash register for some timewhen needed. She overhauled the Och-Teatr. I am very grateful to her for this. Besides, she won’t be alone in this task. New people joined our foundation’s board. They will help if necessary. Slowly now they have to start thinking about how to arrange it all while I’m not here“- explains the actress.
In an interview with the monthly “Teatr” Krystyna Janda she also talked about the rates that directors and actors can count on in her theaters.
“Directing costs 25-40 thousand in our country. Regardless of whether it’s a famous name or a debutant” – declared the artist.
What about actors? These receive “4-7 thousand for doing a role“. “Besides, they get money for each performance of the show. Not much. But they know that the show will be performed here. That they can quickly reach the threshold of 100 performances within two years,” explains Janda.
“Young debuting actors know that a performance with us is a springboard to a career. Everyone who comes to our performances is interested in films, television and other theaters,” he adds.
