“Kinds of Kindness”: Emma Stone in the next film by Yorgos Lanthimos

Searchlight Studio has just announced the release date of the film “Kinds of Kindness”. It is scheduled to debut in U.S. theaters on June 21. Viewers of this year’s Cannes festival (May 14-25) would have seen it a little earlier. Behind the scenes it is said that the production will fight for the Palme d’Or in 2024.

The film script is a joint work Yorgos Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou. Previously, they collaborated on: “The Fang”, “The Lobster” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer”

“It is a real pleasure for us to continue working with Yorgos, and this project will be another truly original idea for which he is renowned. This is our fifth film together and we are delighted that he and Efthmis have entrusted us with their brilliant script. Yorgos has brought together an incredible team of professionals and actors,” said producers from the Searchlight studio and its collaborator Film4.

Just like in the four Oscars awarded this year “Poor creatures”we will see the main role in the new film by Yorgos Lanthimos Emma Stone. A few days ago, Bella’s performance in the latter production earned her the second award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in her career.

In “Kinds of Kindness” we will also see other stars of “Poor Things”: Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualleyand Joe Alwynwho starred alongside Stone in Lanthimos’ previous film, i.e “The Favourite”. The cast also included: Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Hunter Schafer and Mamoudou Athie.

“Kinds of Kindness” is to be an anthology consisting of three novellas set in modern times. The project was initially supposed to be titled “And,”. It was shot in 2022 in New Orleans.

The world heard about Yorgos Lanthimos in 2009, after the premiere of his film “Fang”. It received an Oscar nomination in the “Best International Film” category. In later years, Lathimos himself also received nominations. First for the script of the film “Lobster”, and later for directing and producing “The Favorite” and “Poor Creatures”.
