Karolina Wajda confesses why she has no children. Words that change everything

Karolina Wajda she made her debut on the cinema screen at a very young age, when she “played” the daughter in the self-referential film “Everything for Sale” (1968), dedicated to the memory of Zbigniew Cybulski. Andrzej Wajda and Beata Tyszkiewicz.

The marriage of her parents, a famous director and a promising actress, which took place in 1967, broke up after only a year and a half.

Karolina Wajda's first significant acting debut took place in 1986, when, at the age of 19, she appeared in the school etude “Mętna Woda”. A year later, she starred in a Czechoslovak production. However, Karolina Wajda's most memorable role is the character of Rosemary in the film “Cwał” (1995) directed by Krzysztof Zanussi.

In the following years, Zanussi entrusted her with a small role as the count's friend (played by Zbigniew Zapasiewicz) in the film “Urok wszeteczny” (1996), which was part of the television series “Weekend Stories”. Karolina Wajda's last acting roles included small appearances in the Polish-British series “War Bride” (1997) and in the Dutch film ““Taming the Floods” (1999).

Karolina Wajda also worked with her father as an assistant on the set of the film adaptation “Pan Tadeusz” (1999) and during the production of the television show “Bigda Comes!” (1999).

Karolina Wajda still lives in the manor house purchased by her father in the 1960s, located in Głuchy near Wyszków, where the poet Cyprian Kamil Norwid was born. Wajda devotes himself to training horses and riders, and also organizes equestrian shows.

“There are women who bend over backwards, but that's not me. I have always mainly pursued my goals. Of course, I knew what a family should look like, but I have never had such a strong imperative to create one,” she admitted in a recent conversation. with Viva magazine. “I think I made the right decision because you should have children out of love, not out of obligation,” she added.

Earlier, during an interview with “Dzień Dobry TVN”, Wajda mentioned her decision not to have children. “I know what motherly love is, because I have a mother who loves me. And I regret that I won't be able to taste this love myself. But on the other hand, it's worse to force myself to have children. And I know several people who have children, so to speak. despite myself and I know it's not good,” Wajda confessed.

Karolina Wajda brought a case to court to invalidate the will written by her father, Andrzej Wajda, before his death.

Andrzej Wajda, who died in 2016, wrote his will during a period of declining health. Initially, he was to pass on the inheritance and the copyright to his films, generating annual income of approximately PLN 2 million, to his daughter Karolina. However, ten months before his death, the director's last will was changed: the profits from the copyrights were to go to his last wife, Krystyna Zachwatowicz.

Karolina Wajda explained in an interview for “Gala” magazine: “My father tried to put things in order and wrote a will, which assumed that all his property, apart from copyrights, was to be transferred to a foundation granting scholarships to talented youth. I waived statutory inheritance at his request, so If the will was invalidated, I would receive nothing.”

After discovering the new version of the will, Karolina decided to take legal action. In 2018, the court ruled that Andrzej Wajda's fourth wife would receive the inheritance. The court found that by giving his daughter two valuable properties, the director took proper care of her future.
