Bruno Błach-Baar he is the son of actors Kamilla Baar and Wojciech Błach. The teenager played Gustaw “Gucci” – one of the main characters film by Piotr Domalewski “Altar boys”which he won Golden Lions at the 50th Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia.
The production conquered the festival in Gdynia – apart from the Golden Lions, the title received awards for the best script, editing, the Arthouse Cinema Association Award, the Polish Film Festivals and Reviews Abroad Award, the Golden Kangaroo, the Golden Clapper and the Audience Award.
“Bruno has had an extraordinary adventure and I congratulate him very much on that. I’m happy with the awards for ‘Altar boys’because it’s a great movie. It will premiere in cinemas soon, I encourage everyone to see it” – Kamilla Baar said in an interview with PAP” – she added.
Did she give advice to her son? “I was giving rather motherly advice” – she said.
“I will always support my son, whether it is about his life ambitions or his Polish language essay” – added the actress.
A group of teenage altar boys, frustrated by the indifferent attitude of adults and Church institutions towards social injustice, decide to implement their own, unusual plan of moral renewal.
Armed with youthful rebellion and their own interpretation of the Holy Scripture, they wiretap… the confessional to get to know their neighbors better. Masked like Zorro and with Robin Hood-like ambitions, they become judges in their neighborhood world, helping those in need and imposing punishment for sins.
However, their mission turns into a dangerous game, and the boys, applying their own idealistic code of honor, begin to balance on the thin line between good and evil. The real life of the housing estate is mixed with a mission straight from superhero comics, but instead of capes, the heroes wear surplices.
The main roles in the film were played by: Tobiasz Wajda (Filip Grabowski), Bruno Błach-Baar (Gustav “Gucci”) and Mikołaj and Filip Juszczyk (Chicken brothers). The young actors are accompanied by Polish cinema stars: Kamila Urzędowska, Tomasz Schuchardt, Sławomir Orzechowski and Artur Paczesny.
The director of the film and the author of the script is Piotr Domalewski. “Altar boys” in cinemas from November 21.
Kamilla Baar we recently watched in a movie Juliusz Machulski “Vinci 2”. On the set, the actress met Robert Więckiewicz, Borys Szyc, Marcin Dorociński, and Łukasz Simlat. How does he remember this job?
“It was a wonderful gift from life. But I was probably most moved by the meeting with Julek and Ewa (Ewa Machulska, Juliusz Machulski’s wife, costume designer – ed.). (…) When we saw each other on the set after twenty years, it turned out that we were the same as before. Same DNA” – the actress said in an interview with PAP.
Kamilla Baar she graduated from the Warsaw Theater Academy in 2002. From 2005 to 2018 she was an actress at the National Theater in Warsaw. She made her film debut in 2004 with the role of… “Vinci” Juliusz Machulski. She starred in many films and series (including “For better or for worse”, “Special services”, “Entangled”). In 2018, she decided to take a professional break, returning to acting in 2023. She appeared, among others, in the series “Forst” and film “Vinci 2”. Mother of 14-year-old Bruno (from a relationship with actor Wojciech Błach), who recently played one of the main roles in the film “Altar boys” Piotr Domalewski.
