Julian McMahon left July 2 at Clearwater, Florida. He lost the long -term fight against cancer. He was 56 years old. His wife Kelly McMahon informed about the death of the star in an interview with “Deadline”. He left his daughter Madison.
“With an open heart, I would like to share with the world information that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died calmly this week after the heroic fight against cancer. Julian loved his life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work and loved his fans. His deepest desire was to bring joy to the largest number of people,” she said.
“Please support at this time that our family can experience mourning in privacy. And we wish everyone to whom Julian brought joy to still find joy in life. We are grateful for memories,” she added.
He was born on July 27, 1968 in Sydey, Australia. His father in 1971-1972 was the prime minister. He started his career as a model, but quickly went to acting.
He made his debut on a small screen in two Australian productions – “The Power, The Passion” and “Bay of Hearts”. Later it was time for the cinema. He played the main role in the film “American lifeguard”, where he appeared alongside Christopher Atkins, Elliott Gould and Rebecci Cross.
The actor set off to conquer Hollywood. After the performance in the NBC series “Another World” appeared for four seasons in the production of “Profiler” and for a long time appeared in “Sorceresses”. He was the most recognized in the series “Drybass”, where he played Dr. Christian Troy, an plastic surgeon. This creation brought him a nomination for the Golden Globe.
After success on the small screen, his career did not slow down. He played in another loud production – “FBI: Most Wanted”. For three seasons he played there in Jessa Lacroix. In the feature films he is best known for his main role in Doom in two films about the fantastic four of Tim Story.
His last projects were the series “Runaways”, which was based on Marvel comics, the Netflix “The Residence”, in which he played the Prime Minister of Australia and a performance alongside Nicolas Cage in the movie “The Surfer” from 2024, which premiered at the Cannes festival.
“This is deeply sad news. For six weeks I worked with Julian and was the most talented actor. Our joint scenes in ‘The Surfer’ were one of my favorites I have ever participated in, and Julian was one of my favorite people. He was a nice and intelligent man,” said Cage in an interview with Deadline.
