Josh O’Connor to Star in Steven Spielberg’s New Sci-Fi Film ‘The Dish’

Steven Spielberg is working on a new film. The director needs no introduction. He directed such cult films as “Jaws” (1975), “ET” (1982) and “Catch Me If You Can” (2002). The two-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Director has taken on a new project. The latest were “Maestro” (2023) and “The Storytellers” (2022).

At this point, we don’t know many details about the joint production between Amblin and Universal. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in late spring, on May 15, 2026. Unofficial information indicates that it will be sci-fi and the plot will touch on the UFO theme.

The script was written by David Koepp, with whom Spielberg has collaborated many times. They made “Jurassic Park” together, for example, in which dinosaurs “came to life”. The team is scheduled to enter the set in February 2025 in New Jersey and Atlanta, Georgia.

During the recent IMAX Investor Presentation, Universal announced the title of the production. The film will debut in cinemas as “The Dish”. In addition, Production Weekly reports that Spielberg’s film expanded the cast with Josh O’Connor, which already featured Emily Blunt. O’Connor will next appear in the critically acclaimed film “Challengers,” and his other acting credits include “La Chimera” and another film, “Knives Out.”
